Date: Tuesday, May 22, 2012 Recent NewsInternational Circus Festival of TomorrowBy Siobhan Griffin The annual International Circus Festival of Tomorrow (Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain) takes place at Pelouse de Reuilly in Paris from 26 -29 January. The event is a competition for the best acrobats from famous circus schools. You will see acrobats from around the world including, from the Moscow Circus, Ecole Fratellini, Swiss Knie and the Beijing Circus competing in their respective age groups. There is also a competition for clowns under the age of 30.The first event took place in 1977 during a period when circus' in France were suffering. Today, after many years of popularity, competitors are split into the following categories: Cirque de l'Avemir for those aged 12 -16, Cirque de Demain for those aged 16 - 25, and The Circus of the Future for those aged 12 -18. Thursday and Friday's performances start at 8:30pm, while Saturday has two performances at 2:30pm and 8:30pm, and Sunday finishes up with a gala at 3pm. The venue opens one-hour before each performance, giving you enough time to have a snack and find your seats. There are five ticket categories: Carre Or at 60 euros Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 90 euros on Sunday, Prestige at 50 euros rising to 70 euros on Sunday, Cat 1 at 40 euros the first three days and 55 euros for the gala, Cat 2 at 30 euros until Sunday which is 40 euros, finally Cat 3 at 16 euros for all days. You can also buy a pass to see more than one performance. Prices range from 45 euros to 100 euros. Pelouse de Reuilly is located in Paris' 12th arrondissement. Three metro stations bring you within a short walking distance of the venue. The closest station is Liberté on Line 8.
