Founded in the 1850s, The Bedford Hotel has been a haven for numerous personalities who found serenity in Paris' prestigious 8th arrondissement. Empress Eugenie stayed many times as well as composer Camille Saint-Saens, or Dom Pedro II Emperor of Brazil, exiled in Paris, for whom The Bedford Hotel was the last residence. For more than a century, The Bedford Hotel has belonged to the same Swiss family, the Berruts, and has always been run by its owners. The hotel is also steeped in artistic tradition. Painting and music are honored. Composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, violinist Yehudi Menuin, and painter Zoran Music, amongst other musicians and artists, stayed at The Bedford.
